Julie Burnett-Kirk
I began exploring painting in my fifties. I started with various watercolour classes and teachers, from whom I have learnt so much.
More recently I had a brief foray into acrylics, where I enjoyed the brightness of colour and freedom of expression.
I took advantage of lockdown to explore painting using soft pastels and discovered a whole new world that has opened up for me with my art.
Many of my themes are reflective and contemplative with a particular focus on the landscape of Sussex where I live. Holidays in Devon and especially Dartmoor has inspired many of my recent paintings. I am passionate about creating that sense of place and especially the stillness, light and peace to be found in the middle of the woods, near the sea or out on the Downs or the Moors.
I particularly enjoy being able to work with you on commissions using your photographs of those places that hold special memories for you.
